We provide a Catholic, college-preparatory education to all students who aspire to spiritual, personal, and academic excellence, regardless of need.

Our School

St. Patrick’s has a more than 150 year story that is treasured in the annals of Rhode Island Catholic Education. While the school’s model of service has changed several times over the past 168 years, our commitment to serving God by educating His children has not. Bishop Ruggieri of the Portland, ME Diocese (formerly Fr. James Ruggieri) established the Academy as a 9-12 high school, it was with a very specific mission in mind: that no child should be deprived of a rigorous Catholic education because of need. Therefore, St. Patrick Academy has no set tuition, with families paying only what they can afford based on their financials and a sliding scale.

Our commitment to supporting all learners has forged long and strong ties to our alumni, to the Smith Hill community, to the city of Providence, and to the State of Rhode Island. That commitment is continued through our small Catholic community that allows each student to become known and valued as an individual.

We celebrate our cultural diversity, with thirty cultures being represented in a school with less than 100 students. All are welcome who aspire to spiritual, personal, and academic excellence. We follow the example of our patron saint who displayed courage, patience, perseverance, and great love in returning to preach and teach the Gospel in the land that had earlier enslaved him. We, too, pray for those same virtues as we continue that same mission among our own students.
