Bus Transportation to Catholic Schools in Rhode Island

Transportation can be a major factor in deciding where your child will attend school. In Rhode Island, the state provides free bussing to Catholic schools designated as “regional” schools for students who reside in that same region.

The State Department of Education divides Rhode Island into five bussing regions illustrated in the map below. The state will bus your child to any eligible Catholic school that is listed below that is also within the same region as your residence.

Region 1

Towns/Cities: Cumberland, North Smithfield, Woonsocket

Bussing Eligible Schools: Mount Saint Charles Academy; GWCRS–Good Shepherd; Mercymount Country Day School

Region 2

Towns/Cities: Coventry, East Greenwich, Foster, Glocester, Scituate, Warwick, West Warwick

Bussing Eligible Schools: Our Lady of Mercy School; Bishop Hendricken High School

Region 3

Towns/Cities: Barrington, Bristol, Cranston, East Providence, Johnston, Lincoln, North Providence, Pawtucket, Providence, Smithfield, Warren

Bussing Eligible Schools: Immaculate Conception Catholic Regional School; La Salle Academy; St. Raphael Academy; St. Thomas Regional “STEAM” School; St. Mary Academy–Bay View; St. Rocco School; St. Philip School

Region 4

Towns/Cities: Charlestown; Exeter; Hopkington; Narragansett; North Kingstown; Richmond; South Kingstown; West Greenwich; Westerly

Bussing Eligible Schools: Monsignor Clarke Catholic Regional School; The Prout School

Region 5

Towns/Cities: Little Compton; Middletown; Newport; Portsmouth; Tiverton

Bussing Eligible Schools: All Saints STEAM Academy; St. Philomena of the Sacred Heart School
